Summary:

Inspired by the principle that one learns how to be a Christian by doing what Christians do, Apprenticed to Christ provides catechists with ideas and resources for the "apprenticeship" of catechumens, candidates, and others participating in parish religious formation. This hands-on method, the Church's preferred approach for the catechumenate, is presented in a systematic, easy-to-use format based on the Liturgy of the Word for Sunday Mass, with activities suggested for each Sunday of the three-year cycle of readings. Recommended catechetical resources including the Catechism of the Catholic Church, conciliar documents, papal encyclicals, liturgical documents, and more help to link each suggested activity with the teaching of the Catholic Church. A fresh and fruitful approach for those who work with catechumens, candidates, confirmation preparation, and both youth and adult religious formation.

Summary:

Recent decades have witnessed significant progress in the theological consensus of the world's Christian communities. Although still separated along denominational lines existing since the Reformation, the principal Christian churches have engaged in ongoing discussions in an effort to understand and reconcile their differences. This book is a collection of reports from bilateral talks involving official representatives of Roman Catholic, Orthodox and several Protestant traditions between 1971 and 1988 on a world level. All the talks were official encounters by authorized representatives of the churches, and nearly all the dialogues focused on doctrinal matters. In the long run, however, this process pointed beyond mere doctrinal consensus and towards the living fellowship of Christians. All persons actively engaged in the Christian ecumenical dialogue or who are interested in its progress will find this a valuable resource book

The RCIA describes the period of mystagogy as "the time for the community and the neophytes together to grow in deepening their grasp of the Paschal Mystery and in making it part of their lives through meditation on the Gospel, sharing in the eucharist, and doing the works of charity."  The period of mystagogy is not just for neophytes but is a means for the entire community to deepen its appreciation and understanding of the Eucharist.  Many of the great homilies written in the early Church were delivered at this time of catechesis and community gathered for worship.
