Golf Classic in support of Prairie Hospice Society

Are you a golfer? Consider supporting the Prairie Hospice Society this year on August 21 at their Charity Golf Classic at the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club sponsored by Acadia McKague’s Funeral Centre. What is Prairie Hospice Society? Why should you help? Prairie Hospice Society is a registered Canadian Charity. Saskatoon does not have a Residential Hospice – a place where end-of-life (terminally ill) individuals can live out their last days, weeks and months in a warm, friendly, homey and safe environment.  They require a hospice when they lack the supports that would allow them to stay at home and die at home.  Prairie Hospice Society has developed a program called “Hospice without Walls” whereby we have trained over 100 volunteers to go into the homes of terminally people and provide them with non-medical hospice support and services.  At any given time, we are supporting 50 or more individuals and their families– so our mission is to help them LIVE until they die!  The satisfaction of our clients has been remarkably positive. Prairie Hospice Society does not receive any government support and is entirely reliant upon the generosity of individual donors, local companies, charitable organizations and granting agencies.  Our Charity Golf Classic has raised over $87,000 in the past two years.  The annual budget for Prairie Hospice (largely due to staffing costs – volunteer co-ordinators and office staff) is more than $140,000 per year. Join us on August 21, 1pm start at Saskatoon Golf & Country Club, entry $250 includes a partial charity receipt (reduced entry for SGCC members) and includes Dinner, Prizes & Silent Auction, non-competitive format.
