* DIOCESAN PRAYER INTENTION - We pray as a diocesan family for all participants and leaders of the Lay Formation program as they gather this weekend. May Emmanuel – “God with us” – bless this time of prayer, learning and community.

 

* Christmas Shopping Event in Support of St. Mary's Parish will be held this Sunday afternoon, Dec. 3 from 12-6pm in St. Mary's Church Hall (Corner of Ave O South and 20th Street). With over 25 vendors present - this is a perfect opportunity to complete your Christmas shopping, with something for everyone on your list while also supporting fundraising efforts for St. Mary's Parish. Free Admission and if you bring a can of non-perishable foods (which will be used for Christmas Hampers) you will be entered to win great prizes. There will also be an amazing raffle at the event - with donated products from all the vendors. 

 

* A Croatian Mass will be held at St. Philip Neri Parish, corner of Taylor St. & Munroe Ave. in Saskatoon 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10. There will be confessions before mass. * The Church in the North - Archbishop Murray Chatlain of Keewatin Le-Pas will tell us about his experiences of The Church in the North on Monday, Dec. 11 at St. Anne’s Parish in Father Donlevy Hall, at 217 Lenore Drive, Saskatoon. * The Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon, SK is seeking a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Coordinator of Evangelization & Catechetics. Parish Advent Mission at St. Peter The Apostle Church (1121 Northumberland Ave., connected to Bishop Klein School), 7:00 to 9:00 pm, Sunday, Dec. 10 to Tuesday, Dec. 12 with Mark Mallett (Catholic speaker, author, and musician). The theme is “Surviving Our Times”. There will be an Advent Penitential Service at 6:00 pm, Monday, December 11 at St. Peter the Apostle Church (before Monday’s presentation). La P’tite Pasto (Little Hearts Play Group) is a French parent-child program for families with preschoolers. Through games, songs, art and crafts, little ones discover the beauty of family, nature, friendship, and are gently introduced to the loving presence of God and to Christian values, all in a spirit of fun and in a language adapted to their age. Children must be accompanied by a French speaking adult. This monthly program is at 2pm on the first Saturday of each month at the parish of Sts. Martyr-Canadiens. Serena Saskatchewan presents a Medieval Feast from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Feb. 10, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Saskatoon. Tickets are free thanks to charitable donors – this is a fundraiser so please be generous. The evening includes a catered feast, a wine toss and wassail, silent auction, 50-50 draw, and entertainment. Dress code is “Medieval” with awards for best dressed. “Iconography in our Time: The Power of Visual Prayer,” exhibit will at the Musee Ukraina Museum, located at 222 Avenue M South in Saskatoon, will run until Jan. 30, 2018. The exhibit will be open during regular museum hours: Sundays, 11:30am to 4:30pm or by appointment.

 

* CWL Clothing Depot at 619-20th St. West, Saskatoon is seeking donations of new items for its annual Christmas sale. For example: toys, socks, underwear, gloves, toques, sheets, comforters, towels, jewelry, health and beauty products, or individually wrapped candy. Thank you for your generosity. Your donations help those who are struggling to make ends meet in our city, giving them a joyous chance to shop for Christmas gifts for their loved ones. Parents can choose a toy at an affordable price, enjoying the freedom and dignity of making their own purchase, while children with only a few coins can buy a gift for mom or dad. We would like to invite you to share some Christmas warmth with a resident living at Samaritan Place who needs some extra encouragement and love at this time of year. We want to provide these residents with a personalized Christmas gift based on their interests and needs. We have made up Christmas gift tags with a list of suggested items that we know will be appreciated. * Together through Advent – an Ecumenical Journey from 9:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Dec. 9: Every Creature Singing with facilitator Rev. Advent is a time of preparation – preparation for God’s personal participation in the created order as realized through Jesus Christ. This preparation – this eager anticipation – is not just the human experience. *Catholic Hospital Chaplaincy continues, thanks in part to your generous gifts to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal! Although the publicly-funded hospital department of spiritual care has been eliminated because of provincial government budget cuts, Catholic chaplains do continue to accompany patients and families in times of sickness, suffering and crisis at Saskatoon City and Royal University Hospitals, along with volunteer visitors who are trained and supported by the diocesan office of Hospital Chaplaincy. This includes outreach to Catholic patients from rural areas who otherwise would have no spiritual support. Spiritual care also continues at St. Paul’s Hospital, thanks to donations to that facility.
